In this episode of People in Exile, Andrew, Ben, and Chris continue their discussion of the Sermon on the Mount, In this episode, they look at Matthew 5:21-26. Jesus has just stated that He did not come to abolish the law of the prophets (not even a jot or tittle), but to fulfill them. He then goes through six (6) examples of how the scribes and Pharisees have misinterpreted the law, and then Jesus goes on to properly interpret this law in which He authored. Also, notice that Jesus says that the righteousness of those in the kingdom of heaven must exceed that of the scribes and the Pharisees. Also, notice in Matthew 5:48, Jesus says that those in the kingdom of heaven must be perfect as His Father in heaven is perfect. Do not miss the point that this perfect righteousness only comes by imputation from Christ in our salvation (justification, sanctification, and glorification to come).
